Rev. Daniel Preus
Rev. Daniel Preus is the first full-time Executive Director of the
Luther Academy. He also currently serves on the pastoral staff at Hope
Lutheran Church in St. Louis, MO.
Rev. Preus received two degrees in Historical Theology; the first of
which was a Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary in
Springfield, IL (1975); his second degree was a Master of Sacred Theology (STM),
earned at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN (1989). He spent
one year of college and one year of seminary training at the Lutherische
Theologische Hoschschule in Oberursel, Germany, a partner church of the
Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod.
Since his ordination in 1975, Rev. Preus has served congregations in
Hobart, IN; Truman, MN; Oak Park, IL; and Colorado Springs, CO. From
1995-2001 he served as director of Concordia Historical Institute. In
2001 he was elected as the First Vice President of the Lutheran
Church--Missouri Synod and served in this position until 2004. Since
2005 he has been Luther Academy's first full-time Director. Rev.
Preus has been a frequent speaker and lecturer in the congregations and
circuits of the Synod, as well as at district conventions and pastoral
conferences.
The Rev. Daniel O.S. Preus was born March 7, 1949 in Mayville, North
Dakota; he is the son of the Rev. Dr. Robert D. and Donna
Preus. He is married to Linda and has five
children: Seth, Rebekah, Erik, Kirsten, and Dirk. He and his wife Linda
live in St. Louis, MO. The Preuses also have two grandchildren.
Rev. Preus has authored numerous articles for publication in the
Concordia Theological Quarterly, the Concordia Historical Institute
Quarterly, LOGIA, and other magazines. His most recent publication is a
book entitled Why I Am A Lutheran: Jesus at the Center, published
by Concordia Publishing House in 2004.
